Moss World

Winter in Austria can be very cold. The nights are long. Blue light is shining from the mountains. Blue light is ruling. The woods look brown and grey. Hardly any green. Nevertheless. If there is not much snow you can see something green: the moss.
In the woods at the lake (Hallstatt Lake, Hallstätter See), there is a kind of wilderness. There has not been much done in the last years. After heavy snow falls, a lot of trees broke down and died. Moss covers them.
There are hills (of wood) that are covered with moss.
In these kinds of moss-hills you can see many things. You need fantasy to see it.
Now in the early weeks of April you can see that the mice had a good time under the snow. You can see the tunnels of the mice.
Once, people worked hard to set up a lodge or something like that. These buildings are gone.
I find an old wheel. I leave it here. Why should I take it with me. It is a messanger from another time. It is a wooden wheel with iron around it. Today we got rubber-tires. Well. you know that. :)
Some of these moss-hills seem to hide something. Well, I will not look. Maybe another time.
On the ground and on the trees there are certain kinds of plants that like this special environment.
These plants have certain colors and forms (patterns). Sorry, I have not idea what their names are. Maybe you know?
Maybe at another time I kcan show you, how these plants developed. Right now the blossoming season is just starting. The temperatures at night can still be chilly. In the daytime + 20 degrees Celsius are the maximum.
If you take a closer look at the moss you can see that it got various forms. In the Internet you can get all kinds of information about moss. I am just here to show you the beauty of it.
Yes, the moss-world is interesting. At certain day-times and under some special conditions the moss seems to illuminate the woods. Everthing, this means the trees, bushes and the grass tend to be in grey and brown colors. Not very happy looking.
And then the moss brings some green color into this grey and brown winter-world. A pleasure for color-hungry eyes.
Above you see an old stone-wall, covered with moss.
The moss needs water (plenty of rain) to flourish. This piece of moss is close to a lake.
Moss eats wood, stone and earth. Above you see the remains of some civilization covered with moss.
And I say you good buy, pardon, bye :) It just takes time to go into some wet woods to discover the moss-miracles. It is an exciting micro- and macro-world. It is a life-form that -like others- lives from the decay of other plants and maybe even animals (of course dead ones).
A lot of Humans also live from the decay of others. There are many forms about which we will maybe talk another time. Thank you for your visit. Have a nice day/night.
